Maps...

Here is Fergus explaining to his classmates what he and several of his colleagues have made this morning: a map with even a space station take off platform...great oral language opportunity. They worked really well together with Fergus being a very thoughtful leader. Kapai guys!

Maths

Today we learned to play Yatzee with a buddy. We add the two dice together and cross off the number on the game board. We can now play this game independently with others!  Tumeke!

Friendship seat...

Some children in Room 1 were feeling a bit lonely during play time, so we talked about a Friendship seat. If you are feeling lonely you sit on the seat outside of Room 2. Other children will check regularly to see if they can pick someone up to play with. We made up signs for the seat and put them on the seat! Tumeke!

iPads in Room 1

Children work with a buddy on our iPads. I have organised a range of Apps to choose from for every day of the week.  Our  iPads are being used during Reading time as an activity on the tumble board.
Children also use iPads at times during maths. I prefer an App called "Maths slide: addition and subtraction" that they play with 3 or 4 players.

It is all about fast number recognition ( like our number of the day chart) and working together of course!
