It is great to see the progress and personal growth of students. I like to share this often with parents, whanau and the wider school community.
It would be great if you, our readers, would contribute more actively so children can see and read your comments in class and perhaps write back to you.
At the bottom of new (and old) messages you will see a tab: No comments. Please click on that and leave us a small message. We would greatly appreciate that and it would give children in Room 1 a reason to write back. It would also enable them to connect with a real audience for their writing. News time...

To improve oral language we have a daily news programme in Room 1.
On Mondays we share a favourite book. This includes books from our book bags.
On Tuesdays we share a (family) photo.
On Wednesdays we share Science news: a rock, a feather, some dirt, an insect, a science book?
On Thursdays we share our Writer's Notebook.
On Fridays it is Show and Tell, which means sharing anything, as long as it fits through our door...!

Here is Fergus explaining to his classmates what he and several of his colleagues have made this morning: a map with even a space station take off platform...great oral language opportunity. They worked really well together with Fergus being a very thoughtful leader. Kapai guys!
