Our science and social studies learning this term

We are studying the effects of plastics pollution on sealife. We are first comparing landlife to sealife.
All children helped to create a Venn diagram. We will be studying this more closely in the coming week. We are going to learn the difference between "needs and wants" and what the needs are for sea and land creatures.

Early writing

Have a look at a writing sample from Oscar. He has been at school for only one term!
Well done Oscar. You work so hard on listening for sounds in words. You are learning to use finger spaces!
Here is Oscar's planning and his story...

"I went to Poppa's.
I caught heaps of fish.
I went into the waves."

Friendly Friday!

Today we welcomed Hunter and his mum Sam to our classroom. We read an autumn poem and we made autumn leaves. After that we had some self chosen activities....  And guess what...they decided to play schools! :)

First day back...

Today we went on an Autumn walk!  We found interesting leaves and twigs. We even found a late chrysalis, which we took back to class to observe closely. We are making individual Nature Journals.
We tried to write outside as well, but it was a bit too chilly! Here we are...

Term 2

Welcome back to Room 1.
We welcome Sean Green and Jackie Sneddon to our class.

This term we will be learning about our roles, rules and resposibilities as part of a group. We will be learning how we can make a difference by reducing, reusing and recycling. We will learn about animals that live in our oceans and what is threatening their lives.

We are (re)learning letters and their sounds, double vowel sounds and blends.

Children will be able to track their progress in reading and writing on the Reading and Writing Rocket in class!

Reading nights will still be counted with quite a few children close to either 25 or 50 nights of reading!

Please remember: Tuesdays is Library Day.
