Teddy Bears' Picnic...
On Thursday March 10 we are going for a walk in the Jim Barnett Bush Reserve near our school. You will have received a newsletter for this event. What I forgot to mention is that Teddy Bears or favourite soft toys are invited as well. Please name your child's Teddy or Friend or pin a little card on it with its owners name before it comes to school!
Children will also need to wear enclosed footwear for the bush walk and their Smart shirt.
Our classroom Teddy is looking forward to this event!

The Blue Whale...
Room 1 discovered the true size of the Blue Whale. Most children are sitting on its eye. Max and Olivia are sitting on its tail! It is huge (30 mtrs!).
Here are some whale sounds as well.
Today we also learned the first part of this song about the whale: tohora!

Seaweek
Haere mai! Welcome to NZAEE Seaweek!

Seaweed is New Zealand’s annual national week about the sea.
Hosted by the NZ Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE),
Seaweek focuses on learning from the sea. It’s about exciting and inspiring
all New Zealanders to renew their connections with the sea!
Not just for children or those involved with formal education –
it’s a time for all of us to get to know our ocean, its habitats,
characteristics and inhabitants better.
So this week, in Room 1, we will focus on learning about the ocean
and its inhabitants.
Seaweek 2016 will take place from Saturday 27 February to Sunday 6 March 2016.
The theme will be“Toiora te Moana – Toiora te Tangata – Healthy Seas, Healthy People”.

Fun Friday!
"Greedy Cat is hungry", was a favourite book today. We discussed characters and turned the book into a play!
We drew Greedy Cat, and we worked some more on Splat the Cat.
We studied a new poem: "Look". We all have a Greedy Cat book in our book bags as well.
