Papatuanuku and Ranginui!

We listened carefully to the story, discussed all the elements of the story and tried to get all of them into our art work. We especially liked drawing angry Tawhirimatea, the wind.

Splat the Cat...

Here is Splat the Cat.
He did not want to go to school at first, so we told him that ...SCHOOL IS COOL!

A very BIG thank you...

A very Big thank you to all parents for ensuring Homework books are being returned to school daily.
I really value all your entries on the weekly reading log. It is neat to see the progress children are making.

We are ready for something new in Room 1. Meet our big friend Inky. He lives in Room 1, has his own lunchbox, and helps children learn the letters and their sounds.
Inky is going to come home to your place for 1 night until every child has had a turn. Then we start all over again.

Inky will come with a big book for your child to draw, or write about Inky's visit to their place. This book will be shared with Room 1 after every visit.

Meet Inky.

I have shared this idea with Room 1 children and there is already a waiting list! ;-)

iPad...

We are learning our letters and letter sounds daily. In class, on our iPads I have downloaded an excellent App that helps children with this. Here is the App...

NZ Fauna is an interesting app!

And these ones for choosing time in class are very popular....

Greedy Cat...

Some of our finished work!

A sparkly world...

We look after ourselves first by eating healthy food.
We are then able to look after our family.
If our family is healthy and happy, then they are able to look after our school and community.
They, in turn, are looking after the wider world... All of us together can make the world sparkle!
