Pirate work

Pirate writing by Oscar and Ben. Oscar is learning to find words by himself on the word chart.
Ben is learning to stretch words, listen for sounds and write them down.
We also made real pirate maps.

Growth Mindset

We keep talking about learning and how hard it is at times. We have looked at pictures of our brain and we discovered that we can make our brain grow! Each time we learn something new we create new connections between neurons in our brain. That's how our brain grows. Here is a link to some more information:

Transition to school..

Here is Jayden working hard on getting all the cogs to work together. You worked hard today Jayden. You read a book, you wrote a story about Knuffle Bunny and Trixie and you learned the letter o!

Super Writer

Here are our success criteria for writing a Super story...the students helped setting this up.
Katrina used the criteria well when writing her story.
Students are self assessing their work before telling the teacher that they are finished.
Their assessment criteria are the same as the success criteria for Super Writer.

We are using a magic line. We stretch words, write the sounds we hear, and underline with the magic line. This speeds up writing considerably. We call it Rocket Writing!
Katrina's next step is listening for more sounds!
